Paeonia 'General MacMahon'
A classic nineteenth century french peony. Usually described as deep solferino red this is an intriguing colour aptly describing it's large globe shaped double flowers which seem to glow from within, and are excellent and long lasting when picked and displayed in a vase. The foliage is deep green and is distinctly ribbed. Growing to around 90cm in height this is a handsome and dramatic peony which tends to flower quite late in June making an ideal one to prolong the peony season. (Calot 1867)
