Containerised plants are recently potted field grown plants. They will not have rooted through the pot yet, so the compost may fall away when you plant them. This is the normal way to treat field grown peonies & roses, and nothing to worry about. Just incorporate the compost into the planting hole, gently firm in, and water well.
Wonderful Feature Plants for your garden, these fantastic plants grow into medium sized deciduous shrubs over time, and will always be a talking point whether in or out of flower.
Ancient plants revered by Japanese Emperors 1000 years ago, tree peonies are a class act. Flowering from early April until late May, a selection of different varieties will provide a long season of interest.
Bare root tree peonies are shipped from October through to the end of February. A smaller selection of containerised tree peonies are available all year round. These are field grown plants that have been gently potted up to continue rooting out. The compost may fall away from the plant when it is taken out of the pot. This is normal and does not damage the plant. We do however advise that plants purchased in bud or flower are not planted until the flowers have faded.
We have a large selection of containerised tree peonies available in our Plant Centre. In addition to those plants featured here we always have a large selection of pot grown peonies available in our Plant Centre, and plants can also be taken to collect from flower shows that we attend.
