Nerine Bowdenii (Amaryllidaceae)
Autumn flowering (September - October). Height 50cm / 20". SUMMER BULB OF THE YEAR 2011. Plant from March onwards with the neck of the bulb just protruding through the soil and 10cm / 4in apart. Nerines like full sun and a well-drained soil containing plenty of organic material. Best for borders and outdoor containers. Also as a long lasting flower. Plant into their final position as Nerines do not appreciate being moved but should they become overcrowded, lift. divide and replant after flowering. When container grown, re-pot every 4-5 years. Patience may be required as Nerines do not always flower in their first year after planting.
