Peony Valley

Our peony collection, affectionately known as “Peony Valley” is open during June every year during normal Plant Centre opening hours. It is a 10-acre field gently sloping towards the middle through which runs Mill Brook. It has held a selection of the best of Kelways peonies since the 1880’s. The present collection of 320 cultivars was planted in 1995. At the time it was planted as a sort of retirement home for many of our most old, and unique cultivars, many of which exist nowhere else in the world.

However, times change and we have now decided to plant a new collection, which will potentially hold over 1000 different cultivars including most of those that we feature for sale in our web store. The new collection will be more accessible from our car park and will be a little easy for visitors who are less steady on their legs. Work will be commencing towards the end of 2012.

We always suggest phoning first if travelling some distance, as heavy rain can sometimes temporarily lessen the display.
