Iris
Few other types of flower span the rainbow as comprehensively as the iris. Bearded iris are among the hardier of herbaceous plants and will grow successfully in most garden situations.
We ship iris all year round, either in pots or as bare root plants. Comprehensive planting guidance is included with each shipment. The large selection in the plant centre is constantly changing and will include some varities from the catalogue and webstore and others in small quantities not necessarily advertised.

We aim to ship orders within 28 days of receipt of order. There may be a small delay during May when our Flower Show commitments are at a peak.

Peony
We ship herbaceous peonies bare root after harvest in October through to February. A small range of container grown peonies are available from the plant centre year round.
Herbaceous peonies are excellent plants, easy to grow and among the most beautiful of hardy perennials which flower in early summer. A large established peony may produce 40 or more flowers above lush foliage. As a cut flower the peony is ideal and most have a wonderful scent.

Tall varieties are likely to exceed 95cm, Medium varieties are 81-96cm, Shorter varieties are below 80cm.

Tree peony
Tree peonies are very hardy and robust, eventually forming large, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrubs. The blooms on a mature plant can be 15-25 cms in diameter and an individual plant may have 50 or more flowers. Most of the cultivars listed will not exceed 150 cms in height. Some varieties are available from the plant centre all year round.

Key to Plant sizes:- 2L Generally, single stem, 20-30cm in height when in leaf. 3-4L Generally, at least two stems, 20-40cm in height when in leaf. 5-20L Larger specimens, most are of flowering age.

Intersectional Hybrids
Seen as many as the future of the garden peony. They combine the characteristics of both tree and herbaceous peonies. They form bushy plants up to a maximum of about 90cm high and wide. The foliage is usually dark or bright green and always looks healthy and glossy throughout the growing season. Flowering is rarely before the end of May, and a mature plant can produce in excess of 50 blooms, which can be more than 15cm across. The price reflects how fiendishly difficult they are to propagate, yet remarkably easy to grow, easier in fact and less prone to problems than either herbaceous or tree peonies.
