The National Collection of Herbaceous Peonies Weekend 6th, 7th & 8th June 2008

Our famous Peony Valley containing the National Collection of Peonies will be open throughout June from 10.00am to 4.00pm daily.

During this particular weekend when flowering should be at its peak, our growers will be on hand to answer your questions. Some plants will be available for purchase in the Plant Centre and others can be ordered for shipping in the autumn. Stout shoes are needed.

Peony Valley

The National Collection of Peonies

Our collection of over 500 different herbaceous peonies has been given National Collection Status by the NCCPG. Much of our collection is held in our PEONY VALLEY a six acre planted collection that has grown peonies for over 130 years.

The collection is a 5-minute walk from our main car park, admission is free. Appropriate footwear is recommended if wet. Due to field conditions we cannot guarantee disabled access to the fields but we will have plenty of colour in the Plant Centre.

If you intend making a special visit to us, it is a good idea to phone a day or two before and we can advise when flowering will be at a peak.
From the West/M5, J25, drive through the small town of Langport on the A372 passing the old Kelways buildings (now council offices and a bistro) on your left. Carry straight on the B3153 Somerton road and the nursery is 200 metres on the right.

From the East, pick up the A372 from the A303 roundabout. Shortly after Huish Episcopi church (site of the Kelway family memorial which is planted with peonies named after family members), you will pass the comprehensive school on your right, follow the road until you reach the crossroads. Turn right on to the B3153 Somerton road and the nursery is 200 metres on the right.
